5. How much does bathroom remodeling cost in Manchester in 2025?

Great question — and one we get asked a lot! The truth is, the cost of a bathroom remodel can vary quite a bit, depending on several important factors. It really comes down to what you’re looking to achieve, what kind of materials and finishes you prefer, and how much you’re happy to invest in your space. At our company, we always aim to tailor each project to fit the client’s needs and budget hence we not afraid to ask our clients - what is their total budget. That’s why we typically offer three tiers of bathroom renovations: budget, mid-range and premium. During our initial consultation, we take the time to listen and understand exactly what you're after — whether it’s a simple refresh or a full transformation — so we can recommend the most suitable options for you. Now, let’s talk a bit about what can affect the cost: Materials matter - For example, choosing copper plumbing instead of composite pipes will add to the cost because copper takes more time to install properly. Similarly, if you're deciding between bathroom wall panels and traditional tiles, tiles offer a more luxurious, long-lasting finish, but they do take more time and preparation to install (about 3–4 times longer, in fact!). Tile details - Things like tile size, pattern complexity, and stylish features such as built-in shelves or trimless 45-degree edge finishes can all influence the final price. The more intricate the design, the more time and precision it requires. Bathroom fittings - Certain items, like concealed cisterns, wall-hung toilets, or thermostatic shower mixers, need more technical installation and usually increase both material and labour costs. Additional elements like underfloor heating, electric towel rails, dual-fuel radiators, integrated LED mirrors, and toothbrush charging stations also play a role in shaping the overall cost. Property specifics - Working in older properties may involve structural repairs or redoing outdated plumbing and electrics, which can take longer and cost more. Likewise, if you live in an apartment or flat, things like parking permits, waste disposal, and access logistics can affect the pricing. We’ve recently noticed some companies promise bathroom remodels in just 3–5 days. While that sounds tempting, the reality is that a quality bathroom remodel takes time. Just preparing bathroom space — removing old materials, plastering, waterproofing, plumbing, and electrical work — can take 5–6 days alone. If the room has multiple layers of old tiles or structural issues, it can take even longer. So what should you expect to pay? A basic makeover for a small bathroom could start from around £4,200 + VAT (excluding the cost of bathroom items). A full, high-quality renovation typically starts from around £5,300 + VAT, with the final price depending on the materials, layout changes, and installation complexity. Every bathroom is different, and we’re always happy to give you an honest, no-pressure quote once we’ve seen the space and discussed your vision. If you're thinking about starting a project, feel free to reach out—we’d love to help you bring your dream bathroom to life!

6. How long is the wait from the time of booking?

Our current wait times range from 6 to 20 weeks. However, this varies based on the type of project, be it plastering, bathroom fitting, kitchen fitting, or damp proofing.

7. Do you offer a warranty for your services?

Yes, we proudly stand by the quality of our work. We provide warranties for all our projects, and details are always confirmed in writing within the fitting agreement or contract.

8. Do you operate over the weekends?

We cherish spending Sundays with our families. However, we are operational on most Saturdays, meaning we typically work six days a week.

9. Is the toilet accessible during a bathroom renovation?

We ensure the toilet is reconnected daily for the convenience of our customers. But when tiling the floors, we advise against using the toilet for at least 12 hours to allow tiles to properly set.

10. Do you require upfront payment?

Typically, no. But for projects that demand significant initial expenses, especially when we need to order materials like quartz worktops, kitchen units, or high-end freestanding baths, we might ask for an advance. Most of our clients pay in full once the project is completed and signed off.

11. What are "core materials"?

By "core materials", we mean fundamental building supplies. This includes items like timber, plasterboards, flexi pipes, copper pipes, tile adhesive, grout, silicone, screws, elbows, drainage pipes, dust sheets, primers, tanking kits, cement boards, plywood, and more.

12. Besides bathroom and kitchen fitting, what other services do you offer?

We handle all internal renovation works. Please refer to our services list for a comprehensive overview.

13. Which spot lights (downlights) and what type of mirror you recommended for bathroom?

When it comes to spotlights or downlights for the bathroom, two common IP (Ingress Protection) ratings you'll encounter are IP44 and IP65. IP ratings indicate the level of protection against the ingress of solid objects and water. IP44 is suitable for areas around the basin and general bathroom zones, providing protection against water splashes from any direction. IP65, on the other hand, offers a higher level of protection, making it suitable for use directly above the shower or bath where there's a higher risk of water exposure. For spotlights or downlights, especially those near the shower or bath, We would recommend opting for fittings with at least an IP65 rating to ensure safety and longevity. These fittings will withstand moisture and splashes effectively, reducing the risk of electrical hazards in the bathroom environment. When selecting a mirror for the bathroom, there are a few factors to consider beyond just aesthetics. Fog Resistance: A mirror with a built-in demister pad or a heated mirror can prevent fogging, ensuring clear visibility even during hot showers. Size and Placement: Consider the size of your bathroom and where the mirror will be placed. A larger mirror can help to create the illusion of space, while strategically placed mirrors can enhance natural light. Lighting Integration: Some mirrors come with integrated lighting, which can be beneficial for task lighting, especially for grooming activities. LED lighting is often preferred for its energy efficiency and longevity. Quality and Durability: Look for mirrors made from materials that can withstand the humid environment of the bathroom without warping or corroding. Style and Design: Choose a mirror that complements the overall design aesthetic of your bathroom, whether it's contemporary, traditional, or minimalist.

14. What is the difference between multiple tiers offered?

Budget Tier: Pipework: Composite pipework is used for most budget projects, which is cost-effective but less durable. Core tanking for wet zones, providing basic moisture protection. Sealants and Trims: Budget silicone sealants and plastic tile edge trims, which may not provide the best aesthetic or longevity. Components: Cheaper plumbing materials, such as screws and elbows, are used. Labour: Generally, less time is allocated to the project, resulting in a more basic finish. Skilled craftsmanship may be limited due to the budget constraints. Medium Tier: Pipework: Copper pipework is used, requiring more skill and time to install. Tanking: Full tanking systems for wet zones, offering enhanced moisture protection with products like Mapei tanking kits. Sealants and Trims: Medium-range silicone sealants and a choice between plastic or metal tile edge trims, allowing for some customisation. Plasterboards: Green plasterboards specifically for wet areas to resist moisture. Grout and Components: Medium to premium-grade plumbing components and 6mm Hardy Baker cement boards. Labour: More time is allocated for craftsmanship, resulting in a higher quality finish compared to the budget tier. Overall Finish: The medium tier offers a balance between cost and quality, providing a more polished and durable bathroom renovation. Premium Tier: Pipework: Premium copper pipework for durability and efficiency. Tanking: Full branded tanking systems that ensure maximum moisture protection. Sealants and Trims: High-quality colour-coded silicone sealants and stainless steel, chrome, or plastic tile edge trims, offering a luxurious finish. Grout and Components: Colour-coded grout and top-of-the-line plumbing components, ensuring aesthetic cohesion and durability. Additional Features: Labour may include tile edge polishing and other detailed finishes. Labour: Extensive time and craftsmanship are devoted to the project, allowing for meticulous attention to detail and superior finish. Customisation Options: Clients can choose to upgrade components from different tiers according to their preferences and budget. This flexibility allows for a tailored approach to bathroom renovation, ensuring satisfaction with the final outcome.

17. What are the bathroom design trends in 2025 in Manchester, UK?

Great question! We're seeing some exciting shifts in bathroom design trends here in Manchester this year, based on our recent remodeling projects. One standout trend is the use of larger tiles — sizes like 1200x600mm and 600x600mm are especially popular. They create a sleek, modern look and minimize grout lines, which makes cleaning easier and gives the space a more seamless appearance. We're also seeing a growing interest in mixing tile colours and textures to add depth and personality to the space. This can create beautiful contrasts—like pairing soft matte tones with polished finishes. Another interesting trend is how different age groups are shaping design choices. Young families, particularly those with just one bathroom in the home, are increasingly opting for bathtubs instead of showers—it's a practical choice for children and offers a space to relax. On the other hand, many of our older clients are replacing bathtubs with low-profile, anti-slip shower trays that offer both comfort and safety. These trays, along with easy-access enclosures, are a stylish and functional solution for ageing in place. Wet rooms, which were all the rage about five years ago, are starting to take a back seat. Clients are now leaning toward durable and low-maintenance solutions like stone resin and acrylic shower trays. They’re reliable, long-lasting, and don’t require as much upkeep — no more constant regrouting or resealing of tiled floors! When it comes to colour, we’ve noticed a move away from bold green and marble tiles. Instead, soft, neutral greys are taking over, giving bathrooms a timeless, calming feel that works well in both modern and traditional homes. Lastly, many of our clients are viewing their bathroom as a long-term investment, so there’s a strong preference for premium, well-known brands. These products not only offer superior quality and durability but also add value to the home. If you're planning a remodel and want to explore some of these trends, we’d be more than happy to guide you through the latest options and help you find the perfect style to suit your needs!

20. What is Bathroom Tanking and Do I Need It?

Bathroom tanking is the process of applying a waterproof barrier to areas within a bathroom that are exposed to moisture, particularly wet zones such as shower enclosures, floors, and walls surrounding baths. This is typically done using liquid-applied membranes, waterproof boards, or sheet systems beneath the final surface finish (e.g., tiles). The purpose of tanking is to prevent water from penetrating the building fabric, which can lead to damp issues, structural damage, and mould growth. It forms a continuous seal that protects the underlying structure and adjacent rooms from water ingress. In the UK, tanking in wet areas is strongly recommended and supported by building standards and best practice guidance.

21. What if My Ordered Items Haven't Arrived on Time or Arrived Damaged?

First of all — don’t stress 🙂 Delays and occasional damage can happen, but we’re here to help. We have direct access to the majority of popular UK suppliers, and if you’ve chosen standard bathroom items, we can often reorder and arrange next-day delivery to keep your project moving with minimal disruption. However, if your order includes bespoke or made-to-order items, particularly those sourced from overseas suppliers, delivery timelines can be longer and sometimes subject to unexpected delays. These items may also require additional time for replacement in the rare event of damage during transit. For this reason, we strongly recommend ordering all bespoke items well in advance of your project’s start date. This ensures everything is on site and ready when needed, helping to avoid delays and keep your bathroom installation running smoothly.

22. What Bathroom Items Should I Order Last?

Good question! 🙂 If you're planning to use standard bathroom items, we recommend ordering bulky items last—mainly to avoid unnecessarily filling up your living space during the renovation. However, when it comes to specific components like shower trays, traps, baths, concealed toilet cisterns, integrated shower mixer regulators, or any in-wall built-in bathroom items, it’s important to consult with us before placing an order. These items need to be carefully checked against the actual site dimensions and layout. Please keep in mind that we can only carry out a full inspection once the bathroom has been completely stripped out. This ensures we can verify whether the intended items will fit correctly and function as expected within the existing structure.

23. Do Builders Squad Ltd Offer Discounts and at Which Stores?

Yes, Builders Squad Ltd offers a variety of trade discounts to help you save money on your renovation project. We have established trade accounts with several major suppliers, which allows us to secure better pricing on materials and pass those savings on to you.
